About Hannah

governor2Understanding that neither the right nor left have a monopoly on good ideas, Hannah Nicollet takes a pragmatic approach to challenges, insisting on tangible results. She believes applying the principles of freedom and innovation to social and economic policies are the best way to increase opportunity and improve outcomes for all.

She is tired of politicians using their influence to manipulate the playing field and cater to the well-connected and elite, prioritizing corporations, special interests, and self-interest, ahead of the public’s interest.

Always the independent, Nicollet first campaigned as a teenager for presidential candidate Ross Perot. Twenty years later, she is the Independence Party-endorsed candidate for Minnesota governor and remains committed to serving the citizens and not political interests.

A native of Arden Hills, Nicollet graduated from Mounds View High School and obtained a history degree from the University of Northwestern, graduating with highest honors.

She has worked in the finance industry and manufacturing resource-planning, where she was employed as a software developer.

When her first child was three months old, Nicollet’s husband Mark was deployed for a year to Afghanistan as a Navy intelligence analyst. Since then she has been at home with her girls but remained active in her community, volunteering her professional services to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and International Justice Mission.

Nicollet is also a leader in her church and active in local politics, using video blogging to motivate and empower independent-minded people to make their voice heard in government. This November she seeks to bring her love of efficiency, innovation and freedom to the Capitol as Minnesota’s governor.
